2-Line Chesterfield Glass Handrails
Glass panels on the Chesterfield system are glazed inside the top rail and bottom channel for a clean look and a sturdy feel. Although Chesterfield’s standard design is a two-line system, three- and even four-line glass railing systems can be customized to fit the look of your project (see Chesterfield SP tab). The Chesterfield is Sterling Dula’s most popular glass railing option.
Chesterfield SP Glass Railing
The Chesterfield SP Glass Railing system is similar to Sterling Dula's popular 2-Line Chesterfield, but with the option for three or more horizontal lines. Glass is captured on the top and bottom by aluminum framing members.
Point-Supported Glass Handrails
Depending on the design, the Post Supported Glass Railing system from Sterling Dula can utilize either through-glass hardware or compression clips to mount the glass panels to the posts. Compression clips can be positioned at either the top and bottom of the panel, or the sides. All four edges of the glass are exposed for a clean look, while placement of the posts allows for glass thickness options of 3/8″ or 1/2″.
Structural Glass Handrails
Offering minimal sightlines for an exceptional view, Structural Glass Railing by Kane Innovations' Sterling Dula brand is a clear winner with tempered-laminated glass glazed into a base shoe. Structural Glass top rails are available in either stainless steel or aluminum.
Ocean View Glass Handrails
Ocean View Railing systems, also known as offset glass railings, are perfect for practically any location. With the Ocean View, glass panels - which are captured by top and bottom rails - sit in front of the posts to create the illusion of an uninterrupted and continuous railing system.

Classic Picket
Description Our two-line Classic railing model features square pickets and a continuous top rail for an appearance that's both timeless and functional. Classic picket railings utilize a continuous top rail surface and are pre-assembled at our factory by highly skilled welders. Various mounting options are also available.
Contemporary Picket
Our Contemporary railing was designed in the spirit of our Classic picket system, but with a third horizontal member to add a bit more visual interest. Always in-demand, Sterling Dula's Contemporary Picket Railing System combines a continuous top rail with an intermediate rail. Choose from a variety of combinations to meet your specifications.
Colonial Picket
The Colonial - the most ornate of the picket category - features decoratively-capped posts that separate the top rail into individual sections. Although our Colonial system is aluminum, it's often mistaken for wrought iron due to its combination of thinner pickets and decorative post caps. Rust-resistant for life, aluminum railings such as the Colonial are retrofit wonders, serving as the perfect replacement for existing railings made of corrosive materials, such as iron or steel.
Horizontal Picket
Sterling Dula brand Horizontal Picket Systems add a modern twist to any building. Available in a variety of designs and finishes, these systems feature horizontal aluminum pickets that run between posts to create an elongating visual. Horizontal picket railings are perfect for a variety of spaces including balconies, pools, and other areas where safety and style are of utmost importance.

Glass Handrail IBC requirement design considerations:
Design and Load Requirements:
Glass handrails and guards must withstand loads specified in IBC Section 1607.9.3
Maximum stress limits: 3,000 psi for heat-strengthened glass and 6,000 psi for fully tempered glass
Must resist a linear load of 50 pounds per linear foot and a concentrated load of 200 pounds
Glass Type and Safety:
Glass must be laminated and either fully tempered or heat-strengthened
Must meet safety glazing requirements of Category I (16 C.F.R. 1201) or Class A (ANSI Z97.1)
Permanent manufacturer's mark required, indicating type and thickness of glass
Installation and Placement:
Handrails must be installed between 34" and 38" measured vertically from the nosing of treads or walking surface
Required on at least one side of stairways with two or more risers
For ramps exceeding 8.33% slope, handrails are required on at least one side
Additional Safety Measures:
All-glass systems must be designed with top rails to prevent falls if the glass breaks
Safety glazing required where walking surfaces are within 36 inches horizontally of the glazing plane
For all questions regarding building codes and guidelines, please refer to the IBC or contact your local PGP representative.

Considerations for ADA requirement design for handrails:
Height: Handrails must be installed between 34 inches and 38 inches above the walking surface, stair nosing, or ramp surface
Placement: Handrails are required on both sides of stairs and ramps
Continuity: Handrails must be continuous for the full length of each stair flight or ramp run
Gripping Surface:
Circular handrails must have an outside diameter between 1.25 inches and 2 inches
Non-circular handrails must have a perimeter between 4 inches and 6.25 inches, with a maximum cross-sectional dimension of 2.25 inches and a minimum of 1 inch
Clearance: A minimum clearance of 1.5 inches is required between the handrail and any adjacent surface
Extensions: Handrails must extend horizontally at least 12 inches beyond the top riser and continue to slope for the depth of one tread beyond the bottom riser
Load Capacity: Handrails should withstand a 200-pound concentrated load applied in any direction
Projections: Handrails must not project more than 4.5 inches into the required width of stairs or ramps
Intermediate Handrails: For wider stairs, intermediate handrails may be required to ensure that all portions of the egress path are within 30 inches of a handrail
For all questions regarding building codes and guidelines, please refer to the IBC or contact your local PGP representative.
